IN-SITU GROUNDWATER AND SOIL REMEDIATION
Since 1997, Ozonology has been designing and fabricating turnkey systems for remediation of groundwater and soil. Working with a prospective client’s engineers, together we examine the requirements of a site and, drawing upon Ozonology’s experience in equipment design, we conceptualize a system that meets the specific requirements of that site. Ozonology then submits a drawing(s) of the envisioned system for review. Following approval of the design, a quotation with detailed itemization of the proposed equipment is submitted for consideration.
In-Situ Ozone/Air Sparging Systems
-
Mobile system in 48' trailer: First used at a Superfund site to remediate groundwater and soil VOCS (benzene, diethyl ether, isopropyl alcohol, phenol, toluene, TCE, PCE, DCE, among others), then moved to another site when monitored natural attenuation (MNA) was deemed to be adequate by EPA. A Five-Year Review stated "...the remedy was protective of human health and the environment."
-
Installed ozone capacity: 3 lbs/day using dry air feed.
-
Installed sparge wells: 60 wells divided into 10 groups, with PLC to sequentially pulse ozone/air flow of each group at 3 CFM per well.
-
A mobile remediation trailer is sized to meet the component space requirements of a system, and typically is 10'~24' in length.
-
Stationery system in 20' container
-
24 lbs/day ozone
-
30 sparge wells in six groups of five wells/group, 9 CFM ozone/air flow at each sparge well.
-
PLC controls pulsed sparging of ozone/air (groups sequentially cycle based on user programmed time duration)
-
COC - chlorinated solvent TCE
-
Stationery system in 20' container
-
24 lbs/day ozone
-
80 sparge wells in eight groups of ten wells/group, 2 CFM ozone/air flow at each sparge well.
-
PLC controls pulsed sparging of ozone/air (groups sequentially cycle based on user programmed time duration)
-
COC - diesel from truck fueling
SVE ~ In-Situ Soil Vapor Extraction Systems
Mobile SVE - 14' Trailer
Typical components of a SVE system:
-
Vapor extraction blower (Regenerative blower for low vacuum at lower flow rates, Rotary Claw blower for low to high vacuum at lower flow rates, or Rotary Lobe blower for low to medium vacuum at higher flow rates
-
Knockout tank/moisture separator
-
Positive displacement pump (transfers liquid from knockout tank under vacuum to a condensate receiver tank)
-
Particulate filter (for blower intake)
-
Silencer (for blower discharge noise)
-
Vacuum relief and air dilution valves
-
Temperature and vacuum gauges
-
Intake manifold for (x#) extraction wells
-
Monitoring and flow instrumentation
-
Ventilation, heat and A/C as required
-
Optional VFD for blower CFM flow control
-
Optional telemetry for system remote control and monitoring
